There is probably nothing more truly
New England than Christmas. With the cold winter days, the snow on the ground, and goodwill in the air, somehow
a Vermont Christmas is like Christmas no where else.
From it's 8 foot Christmas Tree in the Living Room to Sue's ever growing collection of Santa Figurines, a holiday at the Canterbury House is a joyous one to be sure. Spread your packages out under the tree if you like, no one will mind, but you may not be alone. |

On Christmas Eve you might want to dine
in town at Prince
and Pauper or the Red Rooster at the Woodstock Inn, so you'll
be able to Stroll back to the house. There is a good chance that not only will there be snow on the ground, but
flurries in the air as well. White and Colored lights adorn the many shops and restaurants in the village. Don't
forget to wish the local constable a Merry Christmas as he makes his evening rounds. Truly, Christmas in Vermont is about
Peace and Goodwill. Back at the house you might want to place you packages under the tree, weather you celebrate
on the eve or the day, no one will mind. But bear in mind you may not be alone, this year you may share the holiday
with a new extended family. For those that want to be a little less sedate there is local Cross Country Skiing. Or downhill skiing at Suicide Six or Killington, both just a short drive from the house. If Skiing is your spot, it is said that the best day to go to Killington is Christmas Day, Your just 30 minutes from here, so bring you equipment (or rent it) and enjoy the best day of the year to be there. There's Snowmobiling and Sleigh Rides too. Or perhaps take the short ride to the Health and Fitness center for a workout and/or massage. Whatever your desire, Christmas at the Canterbury House is a time for fun, rest, relaxation and reflection. Sue and I hope to see you this year, Merry Christmas! |
